What is the PeopleMAX index?

The PeopleMAX index is a clear and easy to use management tool that provides you with significant information on your progress to creating a diverse and skilled workforce that is effective in meeting the needs of your customers and local communities.

The PeopleMAX index provides a self-evaluation framework by which you can rate your performance against a set of 22 attributes. Each attribute has four levels of performance that might describe your organisation, from No provision through Base and Medium up to High provision. The index is applicable across all sectors and is independent of company size.

The index comprises two maturity models – /include and /develop – structured into a framework under three themes:

/develop: 7 strands enable you to evaluate and improve your learning and development strategy and actions that you have in place to maximise the contribution of all your people.

How long will it take?

About an hour for an initial review

You only need to review and rate 22 strands to complete the framework. This will provide you with an initial picture of your strengths and weaknesses in creating a diverse and skilled workforce.

If you complete the index with evidence this will take you longer – depending on how much information you provide. Your evidence ensures you have a record of why you rated your organisation on each strand as you did. It also enables us to give you tailored feedback and recommendations for priority actions you can take to improve your performance in creating a diverse and skilled workforce. How is our performance measured?

The PeopleMAX index online tool enables you to rate your performance on each strand of the two maturity models, /include and /develop. We process your responses to provide an overall score, the PeopleMAX index.

We assess your ratings – none, low, medium or high – against the all about talent best practice standards. Using research on the actions and approaches that are successful in creating a diverse and skilled workforce, we apply a weighted scoring system to your ratings to give you a realistic assessment of the overall impact of your policies, practices and actions.

The Dashboard provides instant feedback of your strengths and weaknesses.

How can we use our results to improve our performance?

In addition to the online tool, we provide other products and services that can help you make the most of the PeopleMAX index as a management tool.

These include:

  • Benchmarking your own organisation’s performance against the PeopleMAX index cohort, or organisations in your sector or of a similar size
  • The PeopleMAX guidebook that provides deeper detail on each strand, along with practical tips, recommendations and resources to help you improve your performance in building a diverse and skilled workforce. Guidebook link: see below
  • Tailored written report that reviews the evidence you have presented in completing the PeopleMAX index. We will analyse where you are strong and where you can make improvements to help you accelerate the performance of your activities to create a diverse and skilled workforce
  • Validation visits and detailed written report. The visit reviews in detail all attributes within the model. We apply the team’s extensive experience in diversity, inclusion and people development to make tailored recommendations for action to help accelerate your performance.
